cape flats screening info

the line has been entrenched…

our ideological trenches is being dug, as i’m

typing this message of potentail hope… (avoiding getting ahead of ourselves)

the film industry is being changed, never will it be the same again…

an exploration into ghetto cinema was launched in Netreg, Bonteheuwel on the wetlands of the Cape Flats this past Saturday, 6 March 2010…

we were bold enough to have an open air cinematic experience in the ghetto @ 7 Mahogany Street and it was fucking amazing…

we had our difficulties, weather, technical and time restraints, yet we pulled it off…

for after the shots and faya of bloody minded belief… comes the meaningful cultural interventions…

film makers, artist, activist, youth, elders and even the thugs came, they even want to know

when are we doing it again…

three pieces of cinematic art were screened –

i) the fiction feature film – trailer

“Days and nights of Love and Faya”

by memory’s child – Eugene Paramoer

that explores the notion of memory in relation to our proud struggle heritage during colonialism, up onto the 1980’s in Southern Africa…

ii) an investigative, factual documentary-

“Sikhula Sonke”

by author, director – Kim Munsammy

chronicling the heroic actions of a farm workers organisation ‘Sikhula Sonke’ and their brave battle for land rights and against the injustices still suffered by impoverist, farm workers…

iii) a rough cut of the short film – “Khonexted”

by Esley Philander and Ferdi aka indigenous rogue

the short film explores memory, Khoi First Nation Identity and land rights issues…

so there you have it my fellow warriors, activist, artist and friends…

the portal to our past / new way of being has been opened…

reclaiming our dignity is worth all the sacrifice needed to claim it…

till the next kino kadre session, shoot and screening…

forwardever!!!

yet most importantly, never to be forgetten, may we always remain loving, caring, patient and nurturing as we are this new world…

mo’ love, mo faya…

indigenous rogue, signin’ off…

we emerge from our ideological slumber, ready to pick up the baton of hope for the wretched once again …

for after the shots…

comes the faya of bloody minded belief,

consequence of despised beings refusing to meekly accept our prescribed roles

of mindless bigots, in need of hand outs and kick backs…

crumbs has never filled the gut of a deprived being, ever…

for as we are creating this new humane world, we shall not ignore or forget those that came before us…

those presently amongst us

and all those to follow us into this sick, decaying world…

it is our responsibility to keep being and believing in ourselves as the other…

and leave this place in better shape then we found it, in our own small way…

we did not create this world we were born into it, some of us literary enslaved

the era of profit maximizing is over and that’s the word…

so let them laugh at us from their glass towers over their bloated stomachs

their opulent, irrelevant wealth has them feeling arrogant,

yet at the same time insecure (their weakness)…

for they know, try as they might,

they might be fooling the masses,

but there are some of us that do not, blatantly refuse to, be treated like sheep or except oblivion…

we are the new one’s born, the last of the integri-knights, taking our stand,

whilst shamelessly holding the line!!!

for, enough is enough!!!

forwardever!!!

yet most importantly, may we always remain loving, caring and nurturing as we are creating this new world…

………. so to the actual reason of this mail…………

we are launching ‘Kino Kadre’ for the year on saturday 6 march 2010 @ 8pm in Bontehuewel @ 7 Mahogany street, Netreg…

we will be screening the trailer, deafening echo’s and introduce who we are to the communities of Bonteheuwel, netreg, Golden Gate, Kalkstten and Valhala Park to ghetto film making…

if you are in the cape and free stiek uit…

mo’ love, mo faya…

indigenous rogue, signin’ off…
