the line has been entrenched…

the line has been entrenched…

our ideological trenches is being dug, as i’m

typing this message of potentail hope… (avoiding getting ahead of ourselves)

the film industry is being changed, never will it be the same again…

an exploration into ghetto cinema was launched in Netreg, Bonteheuwel on the wetlands of the Cape Flats this past Saturday, 6 March 2010…

we were bold enough to have an open air cinematic experience in the ghetto @ 7 Mahogany Street and it was fucking amazing…

we had our difficulties, weather, technical and time restraints, yet we pulled it off…

for after the shots and faya of bloody minded belief… comes the meaningful cultural interventions…

film makers, artist, activist, youth, elders and even the thugs came, they even want to know

when are we doing it again…

three pieces of cinematic art were screened –

i) the fiction feature film – trailer

“Days and nights of Love and Faya”

by memory’s child – Eugene Paramoer

that explores the notion of memory in relation to our proud struggle heritage during colonialism, up onto the 1980’s in Southern Africa…

ii) an investigative, factual documentary-

“Sikhula Sonke”

by author, director – Kim Munsammy

chronicling the heroic actions of a farm workers organisation ‘Sikhula Sonke’ and their brave battle for land rights and against the injustices still suffered by impoverist, farm workers…

iii) a rough cut of the short film – “Khonexted”

by Esley Philander and Ferdi aka indigenous rogue

the short film explores memory, Khoi First Nation Identity and land rights issues…

so there you have it my fellow warriors, activist, artist and friends…

the portal to our past / new way of being has been opened…

reclaiming our dignity is worth all the sacrifice needed to claim it…

till the next kino kadre session, shoot and screening…

forwardever!!!

yet most importantly, never to be forgetten, may we always remain loving, caring, patient and nurturing as we are this new world…

mo’ love, mo faya…

indigenous rogue, signin’ off…
